Horseradish is a rugged, cold-hardy cruciferous vegetable that adds a real winter zing to a fresh juice during winter.
Just like ginger it has warming properties which make this juice the perfect winter warmer. The juice taste slightly sweet and peppery. It is light and well balanced.


  • 2 red apples
  • 1 piece 2cm ginger
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 piece 3cm horseradish
  • 1 stalk celery


  • Remove the stems and remove any stickers
  • Juice apples whole with skin and seeds
  • Cut in half or quarters if too big to fit into the wide chute
  • Cut carrots lengthwise, leave the skin on
  • Note: If larger carrots are used cut lengthwise again, into quarters
  • Chop into small thumb size pieces across the stalks (this shortens the long stringy cellulose fibre and stops it wrapping around the press)
  • You can juice celery leaves, however it will add bitterness, so discard if you don’t like this
  • Cut off a 2cm thick piece
  • Cut into thin slices leaving the skin on
  • Cut off a 3cm thick piece
  • Cut into thin slices leaving the skin on


  • Start making this juice with the cap closed to blend the flavours better.
  • I like to start with the apples. Drop one whole apple into the wide chute of the juicer and let the machine press the entire apple before adding the next one.
  • I add the ginger next to mix with the flesh of the apple. Apple and ginger are great together.
  • Next add the carrots, one half at a time. Remember to feed the juicer slowly with carrots. Let the juicer do the work. 
  • Next add all the horseradish slices and let the flavours mix inside the juicer for a few seconds.
  • Finish with the chopped celery and release the juice.
  • Tip: grate the left over horseradish into your favourite hummus recipe to take it to the next level !
